Stay in a cabin in Val di Rabbi
Val di Rabbi is an alpine side valley of Val di Sole, in the Stelvio National Park. People here have always lived on farming, forestry and stock-rearing.
Due to the difficulty of transports deriving from the land morphology and the splitted properties, farmers used to store their summer haymaking in typical stone and wood huts called “masi” or “baite”.
These “huts” were the autumn and spring refuge of the livestock. They were seldom used in winter due to the difficulty of reaching them with ice and snow.
You will find different types of these cottages to rent: the special ones, perfectly preserved, isolated and quiet, for just one family, as well as the ones with several flats, restaured 15 years ago.
Only a few have central heating. In Val di Rabbi cottages are located either near villages or in isolated position. They can all be reached by car.
SUMMER: the best time for a pleasant stay in an alpine hut is from May to October, a great experience for every nature and mountain lover. Car is absolutely necessary, the next village can be even a few miles away.
WINTER: cottages cannot be rented in winter-time. Some houses open for Christmas holidays.
BUILDING: the first floor is usually made of stones, while the second is made of wood. Even though the outside still has the original farming structure, the inside is always very comfortable. Every cottage is different from the other and preserves its ancient and unique charm.
